This background remover detects the main subject in an image and separates it from the surrounding background. Download the result as a transparent PNG, ready to place over a new color, product listing, design, or presentation. It can be especially helpful for product photos, portraits, pets, simple logos, and social-media cut-outs.

For the cleanest edge, begin with an image where the subject is distinct from its background. Strong contrast, good lighting, and an unobstructed subject help the AI distinguish hair, clothing, objects, and outlines more accurately.

How to get a cleaner background removal

  1. Use a clear JPG, PNG, WebP, or BMP image with one main subject.
  2. Make sure the subject is fully visible and not cropped tightly at the edge of the original image.
  3. Click Remove Background, inspect the preview, then download the transparent PNG.
  4. Place the PNG over your preferred background in a design or photo-editing application.

When results may need editing

Automatic removal can be less precise for busy scenes, overlapping people, very similar foreground and background colors, smoke, shadows, or fine semi-transparent objects. In those cases, use the downloaded PNG as a starting point and refine its edges with a photo editor.

Tip: PNG supports transparency; JPG does not. Save the downloaded PNG if you want to keep the background removed.

Why does fine hair or a complex edge look imperfect?

Fine details and backgrounds with similar colors are difficult for automatic segmentation. A higher-quality source image and manual touch-up can improve the result.
